Ceftriaxone has broad-spectrum activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. This is used to treat serious infections, particularly those caused by susceptible strains of Enterobacteriaceae. Ceftriaxone is a cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by interfering with the formation of the bacteria's cell wall so that the wall ruptures, resulting in the death of the bacteria. Ceftriaxone for injection USP is a sterile, semisynthetic, broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic for intravenous or intramuscular administration.
